This 6 week journey is your roadmap to building strength, fueling smarter, recovering better, and thriving in the backcountry. Each week focuses on a key element of performance, blending expert guidance, practical tips, and a supportive community to help you show up stronger and more prepared for every adventure.
6 Week Road Map
Week One: Laying the Tracks
This session sets the stage for the next six weeks with an overview of the program, key training principles, and foundational nutrition strategies. Dive into the program overview, and set the foundation for strength, endurance, and recovery. Start building a sense of community to keep you motivated and connected throughout the workshop.
Week Two: Fueling the Ascent
Learn how to fuel your body for endurance in cold weather and high altitudes. From energy systems to pre, intra, and post activity fueling, Alyssa will cover everything you need to stay energized and hydrated—even when your snacks freeze.
Week Three: Strength for the Skin Track
Discover how full body strength training, power, stability. and conditioning can help you conquer steep skin tracks and multi day missions. Jess will guide you through strategies to build resilience for sustained effort and cumulative fatigue.
Week Four: Recover to Send Again
Master the art of recovery for back to back days in the backcountry. Alyssa will dive into the 3 Rs of recovery, meal planning for hut trips, and smart supplement strategies to keep your body fueled for the long haul.
Week Five: Power Hour
Take your training to the next level with plyometrics, power building movements, and stability. Jess will teach you how to transition from strength to explosive power to keep you ready for high performance turns and variable terrain. Plus, learn how to build your own program.
Week Six: Thriving in The Extreme
Close out the program with a joint session on navigating the unique challenges of backcountry skiing and riding. From cold temperatures and intense physical exertion to risk reduction and mental resilience, we’ll dive into how to adapt your training, nutrition, and recovery to meet the demands of extreme environments.

I’m Alyssa, Registered Dietitian and owner of Peak to Peak Nutrition, where I help mountain athletes and active adults fuel their adventures to support performance, health, and a positive relationship with food. When I started climbing mountains, trail running, and backcountry skiing, I had no idea what I was doing. I struggled to maintain energy throughout long days on the trail and took ages to recover from big efforts. What started as a desire to learn more about how to boost my performance in the mountains turned into a career helping others do the same.
I received an M.S. in Human Nutrition from Colorado State University, where I also completed my Dietetic Internship —similar to a doctor’s medical residency. Prior to pursuing a career in nutrition, I had a career in public health research, where I developed a zeal for translating complex scientific concepts into practical and actionable recommendations. My nutrition philosophy is grounded in the belief that while physical performance and well being are important, they should never come at the cost of your mental health. That is why a key focus of my work is helping athletes cultivate and sustain a positive relationship with food and with their bodies, so they can perform at their best —mentally and physically.
When I’m not geeking out about sweat science or optimal carb intake, I’m probably playing outside in the mountains of Colorado with my border collies, Yampa and Jackson. A jill of all trades and master of literally none of them, you can find me trail running, rock climbing, or, of course, skiing or snowboarding.

I’m Jess Gresho—a backcountry enthusiast, former freeride athlete, and strength coach who’s passionate about helping skiers, riders and mountain athletes unlock their potential in the mountains. With a Bachelor’s of Science in Exercise Physiology and certification as a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist —CSCS, I combine science backed training principles with firsthand experience to create programs that help mountain athletes thrive.
As a former member of a competitive freeride team, I understand the physical and mental demands of pushing boundaries in the mountains. My years of experience exploring the backcountry have shaped my coaching philosophy: build strength, move efficiently, and prepare for the unexpected. Whether it’s a steep skin track, a technical line, or back to back big days, I know what it takes to show up strong and ready to perform.
When I’m not coaching or training myself, you can find me skiing big lines, exploring new trails, or working on my next adventure goal. My programs are designed for skiers and riders of all levels—from weekend warriors to seasoned pros—providing the education, tools, and guidance you need to confidently tackle the mountains.
